The World Health Organization states that ”access to sufficient amounts of safe and nutritious food is key to sustaining life and promoting good health.”  Today, World Food Safety Day, we thank our wonderful kitchen staff who cook three delicious, nutritious meals for our patients every day. When it is busy, like it is this week with a fistula camp underway, our cooks make up to 100 meals at lunchtime, including for our staff, in addition to breakfast and evening meals

Here, Wilfred is seen making mandazi (oddly enough, it is also National Doughnut Day, and mandazi taste a bit like doughnuts) for this afternoon, and Christine is cooking this evening’s meal.

Thank you catering team. You work hard in the hot kitchen every day, making sure that our patients have nutritious food to help them to recover. We appreciate you.
