In order for Maternity Africa to run a successful, high quality fistula outreach programme, we rely on the generosity of donors, supporters and partnerships.
We are delighted that in June this year we formed a new relationship with NOMAD TRUST, who run a very successful safari company out of Arusha.
As part of their Nomad Health Services programme, they approached us to join them on outreach in several of the communities surrounding a number of their camps on the western side of Tanzania.
We were delighted that Lucas Toroya was able to fly with them to 2 of these rural safari camps and join their team on outreach to the surrounding health facilities. It was a very successful trip and Lucas was able to share the information about the fistula treatment services at Kivulini Maternity Centre to communities who were previously unaware of the free services available at the centre.
We are delighted that from this new relationship, Lucas was able to identify 8 potential fistula patients who will be attending our fistula camp that will be starting on the 26th of August, when Andrew Browning, our visiting international fistula surgeon, will be coming to perform surgeries and train national surgeons. We will be aiming to give fistula treatment to up to 30 women this quarter.
Thank you Lucy Coles and the team from NOMAD TRUST for your interest and support of our project here in Maternity Africa. We look forward to this joint venture and changing the lives of many precious women together.
Many thanks to all our other donors and supporters who join in making this all possible.
