Maternity Africa recognises the great challenge that governments, donors, other employers, workers and communities are facing worldwide to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

Today is the World Day for Safety and Health at Work. Working with some generous donors, Maternity Africa continues to manage the potential for the outbreak of infectious diseases at work, and in particular, the COVID-19 pandemic.

Maternity Africa faces some challenges in combatting the COVID-19 pandemic and protect safety and health at work. Fistula outreach and repair surgeries are currently suspended, although maternity services continue. Maternity Africa seeks to suppress transmission of the virus, and is securing further supplies of Personal Protective Equipment, such as face masks and gowns with the help of some international donors. There are 20 new handwashing stations installed around Kivulini Maternity Centre, and more staff were hired recently to assist with screening and cleaning.
