Thurday 4 June was a special day at Maternity Africa’s Kivulini Maternity Centre, with healthy triplets born to Mary (31). Already a mother of two boys, Thursday’s delivery added two girls and another boy to Mary’s family.
Mary has no job, and her husband does casual work. She came to Kivulini Maternity Centre with lower abdominal pain. She was admitted, diagnosed with threatened pregnancy, and was discharged after five days, the pain having subsided.
Mary came back a week later, and delivered her three babies normally within 25 minutes from start to finish. Maternity Africa’s nurses initially cared for the babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and they are all making good progress.
Mary is delighted with her three new babies, and is thinking about how best to care for and provide for them, with only her, her husband and now five children at home.
