This week is World Immunization Week. Vaccinations and immunizations help to protect people of all ages against disease, and are very cost effective. According to the World Health Organization, there are still almost 20 million unvaccinated and under-vaccinated children in the world today.
Maternity Africa offers free vaccinations to all of the babies born at Kivulini Maternity Centre in Northern Tanzania. It provides ‘polio zero’ – the first of four polio vaccinations that will provide lifetime protection. Bacillus Calmette–Guérin (BCG) vaccine is primarily used against tuberculosis, and is also offered within two weeks of birth using Government-issued supplies.
Maternity Africa is pleased to treat these precious babies like this, helping to provide them with a more solid and healthy foundation for their lives.
