Juliet delivered her baby at home – still quite common in rural Africa. It was Juliet’s first baby, who was born prematurely and experienced difficulty breathing.
Juliet came with her baby to Maternity Africa’s Kivulini Maternity Centre to see if we could help. We provided initial care for Juliet and her baby before referring her to our partner hospital, Arusha Lutheran Medical Centre, which has an incubation machine to keep her baby warm, and help it to recover.
Juliet appreciated the care given to her and her baby here at Kivulini Maternity Centre, including simple things like having access to hot water for washing, and for the care, compassion and cooperation shown to her by our nurses. Maternity Africa is delighted to have helped to save another precious life.
